Where to Buy Hampstead Institute Products
Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at 04:43PM The produce, flowers, and herbs grown at the Hampstead and Downtown Farms are sold to customers throughout the River Region to improve access to fresh healthy food and provide income for the Hampstead Institute. While the Institute is a non-profit, our farms seek to be self-sustaining and the sale of the produce helps us achieve that goal. We use only sustainable techniques for producing our food.
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) Program
The 2012 Spring CSA is now full. Please send us an email if you are interested in joining our wait-list for the Fall 2012 CSA. (anne@hampsteadinstitute.org)
Members of the CSA buy a subscription to the farm early in the year, which helps to pay for the seeds and farm equipment needed to get the season rolling. Additional revenue from the CSA program directly supports our farms and staff, helping us to sustain our vision of urban agriculture and nutrition education.
The CSA program is offered twice each year, once during the spring growing season and again during the fall growing season. CSA members visit the Hampstead farm site or the Downtown Farm to receive a weekly harvest of in-season sustainably grown vegetables, fruits, and herbs freshly harvested from both our farms. Participants receive a family-sized variety of produce valued at $25 as well as a newsletter complete with healthy recipes and updates about farm life and events. A limited number of work/trade positions are available each season.
Spring/Summer CSA season: 17 weeks, from April 4th - July 25th.
Fall share: 12 weeks, from September 12th - November 21st.
